Sleek, svelte film noir 1940s era dress in a midnight black rayon crepe. The stylish details include hip level gathering on 1 side accented with a same fabric bow, & a pretty vertical swag on the lower front skirt to 1 side which is also accented with a bow. The top of the dress should fit in loose, blousy manner while the skirt is form fitting & figure clinging. The sleeves are full length & then some with short slits at the cuff edge and the shoulders are formidably padded. The neckline is high & close fitting with a V indentation at the throat. This is a longer length dress & should fall to the wearer's lower calf or ankle depending on height.
It closes with a short metal zipper at the back of the neck as well as a partial metal side zipper. It is missing it's original belt and is shown with a rhinestone buckle velvet belt of newer vintage which is included. It has 1 very tiny old mend at the waist, front & center where a belt would lay. It has been professionally cleaned but retains some very pale light, whitish pindot spotting , mainly on the lower skirt in the back, barely noticeable, if at all. The maker label is Jays, Boston and Wellesley, no size label.
Please note - any light spots on the garment in pics are a photographic anomaly and not on the dress itself.
