Description: An exquisite & lovely hand carved shell cameo set in a intricate sterling silver filigree setting. I believe this to be 40s/50s vintage done in a Victorian era style. It is stamped on the backside sterling with the initials C.B. before it. The cameo itself has a creamy pale apricot background with the lady pictured in relief in an alabaster white with a hint of apricot shadings. She is pictured wearing a flowerette shaped silver brooch centered with a tiny clear stone - thus making it a Habille setting - a jewel wearing a jewel or a "dressed" cameo. The pin attaches with a soundly working locking pin clasp and there is also a loop at the top of the pin on which a chain may be strung. It mesures 2 inches by 1½ inches.
